Named in honour of Charlie Cartlidge, who dedicated many years to the success of the Calder Valley Snooker League, the Cartlidge Cup this award recognises the best player over a full season in the top division.

It’s where consistency earns its crown—no frills, no formulas, just a straight count of match victories. The Cartlidge Cup celebrates resilience, sharp focus, and sustained excellence at the highest level of competition.

McBride Cup

Named in recognition of Tommy McBride, whose long-standing commitment helped shape the Calder Valley Snooker League, this trophy rewards the top performer in the league’s second division.

It’s a celebration of the player who has amassed the most match wins over the season—pure, unfiltered success measured by victories alone. The McBride Trophy stands for grit, consistency, and the competitive fire that defines elite snooker.

Merit Competition

A true test of skill, strategy, and composure—this is snooker at its purest. In this merit-based competition, every player enters on equal footing, with no handicaps and no adjustments—just ability versus ability. Whether seasoned veterans or rising talents, competitors will need precision, patience, and nerve to emerge victorious.

Individual Competition

In this unique test of skill and strategy, the playing field is levelled—but the ambition is limitless. The Individual Handicap Snooker Competition pits players of all abilities against each other, with carefully calibrated handicap adjustments ensuring that talent, consistency, and mental strength take centre stage.

Veterans (55+)

Experience meets finesse in this distinguished competition, open to players aged 55 and over. The Veterans Snooker Challenge celebrates a lifetime of cue craft—where guile, patience, and precision outweigh pace. Every shot tells a story, every frame a testament to years at the table.

Pairs Competition

Two minds, one cue. The Snooker Pairs Championship is a true test of teamwork, trust, and tactical synergy. Partners will need to read the table—and each other—as they take alternate shots in pursuit of precision and glory.
