Competition Draws
The Merit and Individual competitions are now getting underway, with the opening round to be played by 10 November. There are already some interesting ties to look forward to, including an all-Belgrave Merit clash between M. Beck and M. Whaley, who recorded that excellent 93 break earlier in the season.
The Individual draw has produced an all-Pellon meeting between A. Thorpe and P. Craig, while M. Bishop of Lee Mount faces J. Gallagher of King Cross. With a few familiar faces drawn against each other, there's plenty to look forward to as the cup competitions begin.
Pellon D supplied the standout result in Division 1, winning 6β0 away at HFX Snooker Club A to end the leadersβ unbeaten start. HFX still lead the table, but Savile A are now three points behind with a match in hand after their 5β1 win at Mytholmroyd B.
Lee Mount C have climbed to third following successive 5β1 victories over Arden Road SC A and Cath. Memorial A. King X WMC A also responded well to their Week 5 defeat against HFX, taking all six points at Heptonstall A. Pellon C, meanwhile, have quietly put together four wins from five matches.
In Division 2, Bolton Brow B lead the way after winning all six of their matches, most recently 5β1 at Pennine C. Greenroyd A remain unbeaten too, with five wins from five, although they sit behind Belgrave A having played one game fewer.
Belgrave bounced back from defeat against Ripponden Cons B with a 6β0 win at Pennine D. M. Whaley added a 71 break to his earlier 93, while teammate J. Doughty recorded a 56 β two individual highlights from Week 6.
Looking ahead: Week 7 brings two particularly interesting fixtures: Savile A host Division 1 leaders HFX Snooker Club A, while Bolton Brow B welcome unbeaten Greenroyd A in Division 2. Both should give the leading sides a useful measure of their early-season form.
