Calder Valley Snooker League 2013-2014 News

2013-2014 Season has finished

11

The season has now drawn to a end and what a finish we have had. This is probably one of the closes seasons that we have had with the top positions in both divisions changing hands over the last few weeks.

League Table - Division 1

The champions are Moorside B who jumped from 3rd in the last week to pip Belgrave A and Todmorden USC with a 6-0 victory over King X Sports A. They won by a single point from Belgrave A who without having a game in the last week, had hoped that their previous results were good enough. Todmorden USC lost their last game 2-4 to Bolton Brow B and ended up 2 points behind Belgrave B. Siddal A swopped places with Cath. Memorial A with 6-0 win against Pellon C to finish 4th despite Cath. Memorial A wining 4-2 against Moorside A.

At the other end of the table, Hill Crest A finished bottom on 70 points with King X WMC B in 16th on 76 points. Both clubs won their last games with Hill Crest A winning 4-2 at Pennine B and King X WMC B winning 4-2 at Bolton Brow A. Both clubs have been near the bottom for most of the season but despite Hill Crest A winning their last three games, it wasn't enough to over take King X WMC B. In 15th were Pennine B on 79 points losing only once in their last 5 games. Just above them in 14th on 81 points are Pellon C who swopped places with Belgrave B who moved up 2 places.

League Table - Division 2

Siddal B finished as champions of division 2 on 124 points with a 6 point lead over Ripponden Cons and King X Sports B who finished on 118 points in 2nd and 3rd espectively. Siddal's four wins in the last 5 games proved the key with heavy 6-0 and 5-1 wins against Pellon B, Lee Mount A, Cath. Memorial B and My'royd A. Ripponden Cons spent 22 weeks in the top position but their slips in the last few weeks, in particular their 6-0 defeat to Pellon D in the last game made the difference for them to finish 2nd. King X Sports B also lost their last game 1-5 against Greenroyd A but that single point allowed them to tie with Ripponden Cons on points. West End A finished 4th on 115 points and My'royd A finished 5th on 110.

Cath. Memorial B finished bottom on 52 points with them only winning 3 games all season. Just above them in 16th on 62 points are Greenroyd B who played Cath. Memorial in the last game with Greenroyd B winning 4-2. Lee Mount B finished 15th on 69 points with Pellon A in 14th on 85. Depsite Greenroyd B winning the only game in the bottom 5 positions the teams stayed as they are for the last few weeks.

2013-2014 Week 26 Season Information so Far

01

Now that we have completed the first 26 weeks of the season and we have most of the results in. It's a good time to have a catch up to see who's leading the way or those with broad sholders holding everyone up at the bottom. See who's playing well and constantly winning or those of us who are having an indifferent season so far.

League Table - Division 1

Todmorden USC are leading with 4 wins out of their last 5 matches. Closely behind are Belgrave A on 85 points and Moorside B and Bolton Brow B a further 1 point behind. Only 4 points separate the top 6 so it tight at the top with some of the teams stil have to play each other in the next few weeks.

At the other end of the table, Hill Crest A are 6 points behind King X WMC B and Pellon C who are both on 54 points. Whilst King X WMC B have Lost or Drawn their last 5 matches, Pellon C have won 3 and lost 2 and moved above King X WMC B. Just above them are Pennine B so it close at the bottom as well.

League Table - Division 2

Ripponden Cons are leading the charge to be promoted to Division 1. They are 3 points ahead of Pellon B, with West End A a further 1 point behind them. Both Ripponden Cons and Pellon B have won 3 out of their last 5 matches, whilst My'royd B have won 4 but have 2 games yet to be registered. So My'royd B could catch West End A and Pellon B. As in Division 1, some of the top teams have yet to play each other so everything is up for grabs.

Cath. Memorial B are 6 points behind Greenroyd B who are on 46 points. Cath. Memorial B have lost their last 7 matches whilst Greenroyd B have only lost 2 in their last 5. They play each other in the last game of the season so it be interesting to see who wins that encounter.

2013-2014 Week 6 Season Results so far

    20

Now that we have completed the first 5 weeks of the season and we have most of the results in. It's a good time to have a catch up to see who's leading the way or those with broad sholders holding everyone up at the bottom. See who's playing well and constantly winning or those of us who are having an indifferent season so far.

    Division 1 - League Table

Moorside B are leading the division with 20 points, winning 4 out of their 5 games played so far. Their only loss was 4-2 away to Bolton Brow B. Bolton Brow B are only a single point behind Moorside B, having lost against 4-2 to Belgrave B and 6-0 King X Sports A from their 6 games. Belgrave B, Siddal A and Pennine B have have played 6 games and are also on 19 points. As all of these teams have already played each other, there's nothing much to separate them.

At the bottom of the league it's a different story with King X WMC B having lost all of their games and only having 5 points. They have had a couple of heavy 6-0 against Belgrave B and King X Sports A, as well as a 5-1 to Hill Crest A. May look like the handicap changes this season have made a real difference in their results. 5 points above them are Hill Crest B on 10 and then Cath. Memorial A a further 1 point ahead.

    Division 2 - League Table

The best start to the season so far has been from Pennine C who have won all of their games so far. They started with a 4-2 win against Siddal B and then followed it up with wins against Pellon A (5-2), Heptonstall B (5-1), Greenroyd B (4-2) and West End B (5-1). On the same number of points are West End A and Pellon B who have played a game more. West End A started the season with 6-0 against Lee Mount B before losing their next 2 games. Pellon have some 5-1 and 6-0 wins in their opening 3 games before losing 5-1 to My'royd A. My'royd A have won all of their 4 games so far with some 5-1 wins in their opening matches so they could be a match for Pennine C if both clubs keep up their winning habits.

At the other end, West End B are bottom with 5 points, winning just 1 of their only registered 3 games. Just above them on 6 points are Greenroyd B who have lost all of their 4 matches. Cath. Memorial B are on the same points as Greenroyd B but like West End B have only registered 3 games.
