Congratulations to A. Mahmood (Dennis) from Yorkshire Rider

Well done to A. Mahmood who won the handicap competition held at Cath. Memorial Club last night. His opponent C. Standidge from Pellon in his second final of this season made a good start in the first frame winning it comfortable. Dennis got back in it in the next frame, winning it with some good potting. A similar story in the 3rd and 4th frame for both players before Dennis coming through and winning.

29

Congratulations to Belgrave A

Well done to Belgrave A for winning the Team KO competition. I wasn't there but was told it was a 1-sider affair with Illingworth Libs A conceeding before the final frame of the match.

29

Congratulations to C. Standidge and R. Bachelor from Pellon

Well done to C. Standage and R. Batchelor who won the pairs competition in an all Pellon final last night. There was just more than getting your name on the trophy with club bragging rights up for grabs as P. Craig and G. Crabtree made a real fight of it. C. Standidge and R. Batchelor set the early pace in the 1st with a number of breaks to build on their 17 handicap start to eventually win 80-25. The 2nd frame was more defensively fought with P. Craig and G. Crabtree showing their ability/skill to win 57-34. It all came down to the final frame with C. Standage and R. Batchelor again creating some space in terms of the score. P. Craig and G. Crabtree came back to reduce the score but C. Standage and R. Batchelor stretched ahead to win 62-30 at the end.

29

Congratulations P. Dawson from Belgrave

Well done to P. Dawson from Belgrave who won a closely fought veterans final at Pellon last night, in his first veterans final. It was close in all the frames and it ultimately all came down to the last frame to find a winner. Well done also to P. Brouke from Cath. Memorial who made the final a real challenge of a match.

There were approx 40 people there to cheer on both players with a big thank you to Pellon who put on the match at short notice.

Division 1 Round up

Its close at the top with Todmorden USC leading King X CBA A by 4x with Bolton Brow B only 5 further behind. All three teams have lost some games recently so Illingworth Libs A with 4x straight wins could yet catch them. Todmorden USC have been at the top for 9x straight weeks with King X CBA A and Bolton Brow B swopping places no less than 5x times during the same period.

At the other end of the table, Pennine C, Pellon A and My'royd B are all seperated by just 6x points. Belgrave A and My'royd A just 2x points above them and could easily be dragged into the relegation fight. All three bottom clubs have won 2x out of their last 5x games where as Belgrave B and My'royd A have lost 4x. Pellon A have been at the bottom for the last 10x weeks before swopping places with Pennine C. My'royd B and Penninc C have also been swopping place so it's becoming a real fight at the bottom. Will the 6x points deductions each to Pellon A and Pennine C ultimately be their downfall?

25

Division 2 Round up

It's also close at the top of division 2 with Belgrave B ahead of HillCrest A by a single point with Pellon B just a further 4x points behind. All these teams have lost some recent games but Belgrave B have been at the top for the last 3x weeks. Both clubs have been very consistent holding 1st and 2nd places for the majority of the season, where as Pellon B have made steady progress and cementing their 3rd position whilst giving them clear distance from Pellon D, King X WMC C and the chasing pack.

At the other end, Cath. Memorial B and Greenroyd B are respectivly 18th and 17th. Both teams have lost their recent games but Cath. Memorial B have 4x games yet to be registered so it could be that they overtake Greenroyd B and possibly West End B who have a 10x point advance over Greenroyd B. The form team at the moment are West End A in 14th postion who have won 4x out of their last 5x.There are still a number of games to be registered so who knows what impact this will have.

25

Cartlidge Cup Round up

Jon Burton from Bolton Brow is currently leading with 24 wins out of 30 games. A. Slingsby (King X CBA) and P. Craven (King X WMC) are 2nd and 3rd, both with 22 wins with A. Slinsby winning 4x out of his last 5x games and P. Craven winning all of his. As all three play in division 1, they also lead that division.

In division 2, B. Moroney (Belgrave) is leading with 21 wins out of 28 games. G. Wright (Hill Crest) and S. Dean (Siddal) are 2nd and 3rd with 20 wins and 19 wins accordingly

25

Competitions Round up

The Merit final will be between P. Lindsey (Illingworth Libs) adnd J. Gallagher (King X WMC) on the same night as the season presentation event. The Handicap final will be between C. Standidge (Pellon) and A. Mahmood (Yorkshire Rider) at a location and date to be confirmed by the committee. The Veterans, Pairs and Team KO are all at the semi-final stage, with a potential pairs final between teams from Pellon.

17

>Division 1 Round up

King X CBA A are currently leading with 75 points from 19 matches (13 wins), with Bolton Brow B (14 wins) and Savile (13 wins) only a single point behind. King X CBA A have won their last 9 games with some comfortable 6-0 and 5-1 victories. The recent key victories being the 6-0 over Bolton Brow B and 5-1 against Savile. Bolton Brow B and Savile have been in the top 3 for most of the season but with Bolton Brow B only winning 2 out of their last 6 matches and Savile winning only 3 during the same period, this has allowed King X CBA A to overtake them. Bolton Brow B may have some advantage over Savile with a close 4-2 victory back in November.

Cath. Memorial A are leading the chasing pack with Todmordon USC closely being them. There are 20 points covering the next 9 teams with Hillcrest B, King X WMC B, Illingworth Libs A and Pellon C all on 55 points.Todmordon USC and Hillcrest B still have results to be registered however.

At the bottom of the table, there are 9 points covering the bottom 6 teams. Illingworth Libs B have lost their last 5 games which seems them move to be last but with only 4 points behind Pellon A.Pellon A have won 3 out of their last 5 and Pennine C losing 4 of their games.Heptonstall A seem to be the form team after winning 4 games which has moved them from being in the bottom 3 over the last few weeks.Illingworth Libs B and Pellon A both have results to be registered so the order will no doubt change.

17

Division 2 Round up

Belgrave B are the run away leaders with them being on 80 points from 17 matches (16 wins). They have only lost once all season have have secured victories over the chasing pack of Hillcrest A, King X WMC C and Heptonstall B. There are only 4 points between them but with Hillcrest A winning their 5 games they are holding onto 2nd spot. They could be the main challengers if they keep this form up to Belgrave B but don't count out on King X WMC C and Heptonstall B just yet.

Siddal B, Pellon B and Yorkshire Rider could also make challenges on who may come runners up to Belgrave B. Pellon B have won their last 4 points, Yorkshire Rider winning their last 2 games, whilst Siddal B have a recent lost and a draw.Others in the hunt are Greenroyd A, Pellon D and Rippondon Cons.

At the other end, there are 5 teams with 4 points between them. Greenroyd B have31 points (4 wins) and Cath. Memorial B with 35 points (5 wins). West End A, West End B and Lee Mount A are between them but it's Greenrod B who have recently won 3 against the chasing pack at the other end of the table.Lee Mount A had a good 5-1 victory over Yorkshire Rider, a drawn with Siddal B but heavy loses to King X WMC and Heptonstall B.Both West End A and West End B have had a indifferent run of form recently with only a single victory coming in the last 5 games.Lee Mount A, West End A and Cath. Memorial B all have results to be registered so the table could significantly change.

17

Cartlidge Cup Round up

In Division 1, Jon Burton from Bolton Brow is leading with 15 wins from 18 matches with victories in his last 3 matches. C. Thornsby (Todmordon USC) and J. Halliday (Hill Crest) are not far behind, with J. Halliday also winning his last 3.C. Thornsby has only won once in the last 5 however. The other key people who have won their last 5 games are I. Berkeley and N. Sinclaire (both from King X CBA), R. Coyle (Cath. Memorial), D. Williams and R. Howard (both from Siddal) and D. Crabtree (Pellon).

In Division 2, B. Moroney from Belgrave has 15 wins from 17 matches with victories in his last 13 matches. G. Wright (Hill Crest), M. Beck (King X WMC) and T. Maude (Siddal) are still in the hunt with only M. Beck and T. Maude only losing once in the last 5 matches. There are 11 other players who over the last 5 matches have only lost once.

Perhaps it's time to have a handicap review.

17

High Breaks Round up

The highest break so far is by P. Cameron (-20 to +5 category) from Pellon with a 68 break coming against M. Davies from Pennine C. P. Cameron won the match 79-45 so that break must have taken the steam out of him.

In the -70 to -25 category, J. Gallagher (King X WMC) has a 63 with M. Whaley (King X WMC) has a 59.

The -20 to +5 category has the most number of breaks with l. Colclough (Todmordon USC) and S. smith (Pellon) both registering 2.

12

Handicap Competition Round up

The match of round 2 has to be Stan Battye (King X WMC) against M. Whaley (KING X WMC).Who will get bagging rights?

12

Pairs Competition Round up

Looks like the tables at Belgrave will be busy with 5 out of their 6 pairs that entered being drawn at home.

In an all Pellon showdown, D.Williams & S. Clarke are against R. Needham & S. Smith. Whilst at Hill Crest there is also an all club match, T. Bromley & B. Morgan against G. Sharpe & M. Cunningham.

Division 1 Round up

Bolton Brow B have started the season very well indeed, winning 8 of their first 9 matches. Last seasons runners up to Pellon C are definitely setting the pace with Tod USC close behind them with the same win/draw/lost ratio and only a single point separating the top 2.

Last seasons champions Pellon C aren't doing well so far, currently lying in 16th position with 2 wins and 19 points. The gap between them and 4th is only 10 points with 12 teams closely knitted together. Any decent run of wins could easily left any of these out of the chasing pack.

For the teams that were promoted last season, Pellon A are in 14th position with 3 wins out of 8 whilst My'royd B are bottom with only 1 win out of 7. Pellon A started the season with a 4-2 lost to Tod USC, losing 6-0 to Belgrave A before a 4-2 victory over My'royd B. My'royd B lost their first 6x games including a 4-2 lost to their A team before a 4-2 victory over Cath. Memorial A.

8

Division 2 Round up

Belgrave B have started the season with 8 wins out of 8 with Yorkshire Rider, Pellon D, Hill Crest A losing to them in the first 3 weeks of the season. Closely behind Belgrave B are Hill Crest A with 7 wins out of 8 and only a single point difference. They started well with a 5-1 victory over Pellon D and a 6-0 win over King X CBA B.

It's a similar situation in division 2 in that the majority of the teams are only separated by 10 points. Pellon B are in 4th with 29 points whilst Lee Mount A who are in 15th on 19.

For the teams that were relegated last season, Cath. Memorial B are in 11th position with 3 wins out of 8 whilst Siddal B are 9th with 4 wins out of 7. Cath. Memorial B started with a 4-2 lost to Greenroyd A, draw with King X CBA B and then a 4-2 lost to Belgrave B. Siddal B started with 3 straight 5-1 victories over Ripponden Cons, Pellon B and Illingworth Libs C.

8

Cartlidge Cup Round up

There is a run away leader in division 1 with C. Thornsby from Tod USC winning 9 out of 9 matches. He started the season with a hefty 115-31 win against G. Roberts from Pellon, followed by a close 69-66 victory over P. Bourke from Cath. Memorial. His opponents so far have ranged from (Minus) 15 through to +20 with the majority of his wins coming against +5 handicaps.

In division 2 there is another player with a 100% win percentage, R. Stewart from Cath. Memorial have secured victory in all of his 7 matches.  He started the season with a 78-63 victory over R. Gledhill from Greenroyd and followed this up with a 76-63 over M. Hussain from King X CBA. His opponents so far have ranged from (Minus) 25 through to +30 with the no real clear standout handicap that he likes to play against.

Perhaps it's time to have a handicap review.

8

High Breaks

The highest break so far is by P. Cameron from Pellon with a 68 break coming against M. Davies from Pennine C. P. Cameron won the match 79-45 so that break must have taken the steam out of him. Other noticeable breaks come from L. Colclough from Tod USC with a 40 and 35 coming in sequential weeks.

There is no high break registered for the -70 to -25 category. R. Barlow from Pennine currently leads the +10 to +25 category with 35 in game week 3.
